Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month to discuss the general business of the Cooperative with the General Manager.
MEET YOUR BOARD CANDIDATES!
Nat Bjerke-Harvey is the owner of Piccalilli Farm right here in Manhattan, KS and has extensive experience in food production, retail, and business management. Before arriving in Manhattan, he brought his organizational skills to a small, farmstead goat creamery in Central Illinois, as well as managing a gourmet food retail/cheese shop in Chicago. He is running for the Board of Directors to bring a bright, new energy and strategies to encourage seasonal eating, reducing our carbon footprint, and supporting local food economies while keeping People's Grocery a relevant, vibrant community food resource.
Tim Vettel is the owner of the new 9Round Kickboxing Fitness Gym in Manhattan, KS and is excited to be a part of this election process. After moving to Manhattan, he quickly realized that People's Grocery is a unique piece of the Little Apple and wants to become more involved in the community by becoming a candidate for the Board of Directors. No stranger to compromise and sacrifice for the team effort, Tim is excited to bring his substantial branding, entrepreneurship, and marketing experience to assist People's Grocery in becoming a convenient shopping source for Manhattan.
Karla Wilcox is the Director of Business Development at Scott Rice Office Works here in Manhattan, KS. She has extensive experience in fundraising, entrepreneurship, and business management, and desires to be more involved with the community through this Board of Directors. Karla wants to invest in People's Grocery's future by working to attract new member-owners and differentiate the store from its competition in town. As a multi-tasker and a go-getter, Karla is passionate about leading the co-op into the future with a successful master plan for continual growth.
If you think an owner would be a fit for our Board of Directors, it is not too late! Give them an application and there will be time at the Annual Meeting to open the floor for nominations. Thank you to our candidates! We look forward to seeing you all at the Annual Meeting in the Manhattan Public Library!
The board votes on all decisions and is elected by the general body of the cooperative at each annual meeting to represent them at meetings throughout the year.
While the meetings are called "Board of Directors Meetings," they are open to all Co-Op members.
Meeting Minutes are available upon request of the board. You can request a copy by emailing email@example.com
Board positions are to be held for at least one year. If you are interested in learning more about the board, please contact our board president.
